More about Waiting For The Verdict
Abraham Solomon began studying at Sass’s school of Art at the age of thirteen. He was later admitted at the Royal Academy where he received a silver medal. His works prior to Waiting For The Verdict were mainly domestic genre scenes that were frequently inspired by 18th century sources. Waiting For The Verdict is one his works that paints the modern life and contemporary subject matter of the time. The painting is set in a darkened area outside a provincial courtroom where a man and his family are waiting anxiously for a verdict. Its sequel, Not Guilty, was exhibited in 1859. This painting is currently at the Getty Center in Los Angeles.
