Two Sisters was painted on the terrace of Maison Fournace, A restaurant in Seine, Chatou. The two girls depicted in the painting as sisters were not really related. The painting was bought by an art dealer named Paul Durand-Ruel for 1,500 francs. The painting is now at the Art Institute of Chicago.
