Henry Jules Jean Geoffroy was known for painting children in different settings.  From 1880, he started signing his work as “GEO”.  The epitaph on his tomb reads: “Peintre des enfants et des humbles” which means “The painter of the children and the humble”.  “Sharing a Meal” depicts a child feeding a cat from his bowl.  The painting is currently in the hands of a private collector.
