Beethoven Frieze
$189.00 – $814.00
If you love collecting the works of symbolist painters such as Klimt, this masterpiece is a great addition. The original is too large, but a reproduction of a small section is doable!
This painting is a great conversation piece because it tells a story or depicts a journey through life that humans can relate to.
Because the Beethoven Frieze is a famous painting, it was made the main theme of the Austrian 100 Euro gold and silver commemorative coins. The reverse side of the coin features a small section of the painting.

More about the Beethoven Frieze
Gustav Klimt painted the Beethoven Frieze in 1902 for the 14th Vienna Secessionist exhibition. The painting was intended to celebrate the composer Ludwig van Beethoven and it featured a massive polychrome sculpture by Max Klinger.
The frieze was painted directly onto the walls using light materials since it was only meant for the exhibition. However, the painting was preserved afterwards but it was not put on display until 1986. It is now on permanent display in the Vienna Secession Building.
The frieze depicts the human desire for happiness in a suffering and turbulent world. The painting shows the journey of discovery in a brilliant visual and linear style. The painting illustrates the psychological human longing which is eventually fulfilled through individual and collective searching, and the splendor of the arts united with camaraderie and love.
