Charity of Saint Elladius of Toledo
– Francisco Bayeu y Subías was an excellent fresco painter. He received many commissions to paint Royal palaces including the Palacio Real. He served as a court painter to King Chales II and King Charles III of Spain.
– Aside from his works of charity, Elladius introduced reforms in the ecclesiastical hierarchy and took care of the improvement of worship. His successor, San Ildefonso noted that “while dressed as a layman, he lived like a monk”.
